La Bombe/Jiří Lauterkranc

Plastika La Bombe představuje srovnávací můstek mezi energií vynakládanou člověkem k duševnímu a kulturnímu rozvoji, v tomto případě k tanci a baletu, a energií vloženou do stroje určeného naopak k likvidaci.Povrch je z části pokryt použitými baletními špičkami, symbolizujícími námahu a energii, kterou tanečníci vydávají na sálech a jevištích divadel. Tato energie není zanedbatelná a v porovnání s jinými činostmi nebo právě s účinky letecké pumy zjistíme, že balet je provázen vskutku překvapivými výkony. La Bombe je modelem britské letecké pumy Tallboy vyráběné za druhé světové války. Tato bomba byla používána k likvidaci těžkých železobetonových staveb a konstrukcí.  Tallboy obsahuje 2.358 kg (5.200 libry) výbušné látky Torpex.Při explozi vydá bomba Tallboy 15.5 miliard joulů energie. Vedle toho baletka vydá přibližně 1.5 milionu joulů za jedno představení a do roka spotřebuje kolem 12 párů špiček. Vezmeme-li též v úvahu hodiny přípravy a tréningu, vyjde nám, že energie potřebná k opotřebení jednoho páru špiček činní zhruba 27 milionů jaulů. Kariéra baletky, včetně přípravy ve škole obvykle trvá 15 až 25 let. Uvažujeme-li průměr kolem 20 let a vynásobíme jej počtem opotřebovaných špiček za rok a energií vydanou na opotřebení jednoho páru špiček, zjistíme, že baletka za svou kariéru vydá přibližně 6,480 miliardy joulů energie. Vydělíme-li touto hodnotou energii, kterou bomba při svém výbuchu vydá, vyjde nám počet baletek, jejichž celoživotně vynaložená energie k tanci se rovná energii uvolněné při explozi bomby Tallboy. Je to 2.4 baletky.

La Bombe creates a platform allowing comparison of the energy expended by humans in order to generate spiritual and cultural values, in this case ballet and dance, and the energy inserted into a machine with the purpose of destruction. Its surface is partially covered by worn-out ballet shoes, representing the effort and the energy ballet dancers give up on theater stages and dance halls. The amount of that energy is by no means negligible. In comparison with other activities, or, as in our case, with the effects of bomb explosion, we find out that the performance associated with ballet dancing is astonishing. La Bombe is a model of British bomb Tallboy produced during World War II. The bomb was used to destroy heavy concrete buildings and sites. Tallboy is powered by 2.358 kg (5.200 lb) of Torpex explosive. Tallboy releases 15.5 billion joules upon explosion. On the other hand, ballet dancer expends approximately 1.5 million joules during a performance and needs approximately 12 pairs of ballet points per theater season.  Taking into account the hours spent practicing and preparation, we found out that the energy release associated with using up a pair of ballet points equals about 27 million joules. Ballet dancer’s career, including school preparation, usually lasts between 15 and 25 years. If we take the average of 20 years, multiply it by the number of used ballet points per season and the energy spent while using up one pair, we find out that our ballet dancer releases approximately 6.480 billion joules during her dancing career. Using this number and dividing by it the energy released by the bomb, we get the number of its “ballet-dancer equivalents”. It is 2.4.
